On Tuesday, the New York Times announced on Twitter that it had hired journalist Quinn Norton to be its lead opinion writer on technology and power.

Immediately, people began to respond to the New York Times’ tweet with instances in which Norton had used anti-gay slurs on her Twitter account, many of them used in recent years like 2013 and 2014.

The tweets include several instances of Norton using the word “fag” as an insult to other Twitter users. She also RTed some tweets using the n word to describe president Barack Obama.

The New York Times did not immediately respond to INTO’s request for comment.
