When it comes to fantasizing about a dream partner, there’s plenty of details to consider. How do they look? What’s their personality like? How do they earn a living?

It’s that last question currently occupying the minds of the gays on Reddit, who are sounding off on which jobs are instant turn-ons in a potential partner.

Under a post dedicated to the topic, several factions emerged. There are those who are especially into blue-collar guys: mechanics, contractors, construction workers, truckers, and the like.

“Any fit guy in one of those orange safety vests,” one commenter wrote.

“One that likes to get their hands dirty. Mechanic. Construction. Laborer,” agreed another. “I love rough looking hands.”

One of those blue-collar men, a contractor, confirmed that his job is a turn-on for lots of other guys — and that gay hookup apps are actually a great source of new clients.

“I have an inbox full of attractive men telling me my job is hot,” he wrote. “Oddly enough I get 80% of my business on the various apps. Many gay men and trans people are not keen on having potentially bigoted strangers in their houses.”

Then there are those who want a man in STEM. As Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik just proved, everybody’s feral for a mixture of brains and brawn.

“Fit nerds turn me on so much,” one commenter wrote. “STEM guys [especially] those that get passionate about some technical niche subjects. I can listen and swoon and still have no idea what he’s talking about.”

Another commenter got even more specific, saying that accountants are where it’s at. “In my experience, an Excel wiz is a freak in the sheets,” they wrote.

Beyond his nerdiness, Nedoroscik may have sparked a general interest in gymnasts. “Is gymnast an occupation because they’ve got me feeling something,” asked one commenter.

One other career that got more than a few mentions is teaching, though one teacher was confused as to why.

“When guys find out I’m a teacher, it’s wild how excited they are,” they wrote. “I personally don’t understand it, but I’ve made sure to put it on my profile at this point along with a photo of me inside my classroom (without students, [obviously]).”

Another commenter was happy to explain why teaching can be a turn-on: “I think it’s similar to the way seeing a guy be a good dad is a turn on. Can’t quite say what it is but gay men and straight women alike both agree it’s hot,” they wrote.

If you don’t fit any of the above bills, don’t worry: there’s clearly someone for everyone. And when it comes to attracting other gays, the simple fact of having a job will win you more points than any specific profession.

In fact, the most upvoted comment in the thread simply reads, “Any employment really lol.”

Other commenters were inclined to agree: “Military, pilot, doctor are probs the top three but if a guy has a good job and steady income that’s a turn on in general,” wrote another. Time to update those resumes and get on the job hunt.
