Future POTUS Oprah Chats with RuPaul in New Issue of ‘O Magazine’

Oprah Winfrey may be one everyone’s minds this week as a potential 2020 presidential candidate. After her inspiring speech at Sunday night’s Golden Globes, fans are ready for her to hit the campaign trail. Although another millionaire TV star may not be the best option, she’s certainly more desirable than our current situation.

And now we have an idea who could make the perfect running mate. RuPaul recently mentioned an interview with Winfrey during an episode of What’s the Tee? But he didn’t reveal many details other than that.

The wait is over and our curiosity is now satisfied, as the media mogul has just released the cover of the new issue of O: The Oprah Magazine. In addition to featuring the titular Oprah looking like a goddess in a golden gown, with her hair flowing in the wind, it also features a headline for her interview with Mama Ru, “Oprah Talks to RuPaul About Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Fabulous. Can We Get an Amen?”

Amen!

Although we only have the cover for now, our minds are craving whatever empowering pieces of wisdom these two icons exchanged during that interview. Perhaps we can also hope for Oprah to make an appearance on an upcoming RuPaul’s Drag Race? Those queens better be ready for some true royalty.

Unfortunately, RuPaul’s interview in the new issue of O won’t hit stands until January 16. Until then, we can brush up on one of the duo’s first chats. In 1995, Ru appeared on Oprah’s talk show, in which they discussed Ru’s book Letting It All Hang Out, leaving New York in the ‘80s, and a dark period in his life, when he contemplated suicide.

But as it should be with Ru and Oprah, it ended on a positive note. In fact, it helped him “recharge his battery” and become the drag superstar he is today.

“Bad weather always passes over,” he told Oprah of his dark year. “If you can wait it out, it will pass.”
