Actress Hunter Schafer just set a new bar for the visual arts in a stunning new animation posted to Instagram.

The short piece was directed by Schafer, serving as her directorial debut in animation. In the past, Schafer has directed music videos for Girlinred and ANOHNI.

It depicts a woman entering a mirror before being whisked away into a visually diverse world, where she goes through an amazing transformation into a bird. Colors jump across the screen as she engages in more rainbow transformations, until finally going through a castle and being reborn as a flower in her initial bedroom.

The animation not only contains visuals, but fantastic audio to go along with it by sound studio Skillbard.

Schafer is one of the few trans actresses in Hollywood consistently getting roles and speaking on trans issues. She made her acting debut as Jules Vaughn in Euphoria and has had roles in a few movies as well, including one of the newer Hunger Games films, Belle, and the horror film Cuckoo. She’s expected to appear in Blade Runner 2099, which is currently filming.

She’s received numerous awards for her work both as a pioneering LGBTQ+ icon and as an amazing actress in the works she’s starred in.
