Remember that time Donald Trump referred to fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter as a late, great guy? You’d be forgiven if it doesn’t leap to mind—that man has said so much stupid crap that it’s hard to keep up. But rest assured, it happened, and Sir Anthony Hopkins, the legendary actor who brought the Silence of the Lambs killer to life in the 1991 film, has a few scathing words for the once and future idiot.

In a new interview with Deadline, Hopkins expressed his chagrin at the Trump gaffe, in only the way Hopkins could.

Shocked, appalled, I mean, yes. That’s how we all feel, Sir Anthony. It’s charming that he didn’t know about this at all, and what we wouldn’t give to live in that world, where learning this kind of information about Donald Trump remains strictly optional.

But the real hidden gem is the phrase: “as if he is real?” In Anthony Hopkins’ world, it’s notably strange that a political figure would name-check any fictional character—never mind referring to one of the most terrifying villains in film history as “the late, great Hannibal Lecter.”

In a world that becomes darker, stranger, and more stupid by the second, thank God for Anthony Hopkins. He’s keeping it 1000% real by reminding us that he simply can’t be bothered to keep up with Trump’s bullsh*t. We love it, and we’re also very, very jealous.
