Lil Nas X has always defied labels, swinging from country to pop to rap all while establishing himself a gay icon. Now, he’s trying to add another title to his resume: psychic.

In a new video shared across social media, the “MONTERO” singer told the world that three political predictions he made in 2019 are now all coming true.

The video sees Lil Nas X reacting to the music video for his 2019 song “Panini,” but with one notable difference to how his fans might remember the track. The clip, which features the song’s first verse, starts as expected with the lyric, “Ayy, Panini, don’t you be a meanie.”

The next lyric, though, takes a turn, with Lil Nas X saying, “In 2024 there will be an assassination attempt on Trump and Joe Biden will drop out of the race and Kamala Harris will run for president.”

Lil Nas X marveled at his own psychic prowess in the video’s caption, writing, “Crazy how I predicted all of this in 2019 and all of y’all called me ‘dumb and gay.’”

In all seriousness, of course, Lil Nas X isn’t psychic. “Panini” didn’t predict Trump being shot, Biden dropping out, or Harris becoming the Democratic nominee. (The song’s original lyrics at that point say, “Thought you wanted me to go up. Why you tryna keep me teeny?”) But beyond his musical talents, Lil Nas X has always been known for his sense of humor, and this being his take on the political craziness of the past few weeks only makes sense.

On TikTok, Lil Nas X’s fans played along with the joke. “I remember this and no one paid attention,” wrote one commenter. “I tried telling y’all!”

“I knew there was a deeper meaning to this song,” joked another.

“I remember the day this dropped and everyone just brushed it off smh,” commented a third.

His fans across social media kept the bit going. Several were asking Lil Nas X for another prediction: When will his highly anticipated sophomore album release? For now, only a psychic would know.
