Chappell Roan’s debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is nothing but bops from front to back. From “Femininomenon” to “Red Wine Supernova” and “Pink Pony Club,” it has zero skips — but like all of us, Roan has to have a favorite song from the album. It just happens to be one she almost never performs live.

After Roan’s standout performance at the Outside Lands music festival in San Francisco this weekend (where she celebrated the one-year anniversary of her hit song “HOT TO GO!” by wearing her outfit from the music video), one fan took issue with Roan’s setlist.

“Will never get over Chappell not making Guilty Pleasure a setlist staple when she’s literally said THAT’S HER FAV SONG FROM HER ALBUM,” the fan lamented in a post on X.

For the uninitiated, “Guilty Pleasure” is the final track from The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. It may not have been a single, but it’s an absolute banger, featuring some of Roan’s best yodeling to date. (It also inspired one of Roan’s funniest posts after the lyric, “How would it taste?” was misquoted as, “How would he taste?” On her Instagram story, Roan corrected the lyric, writing, “B*tch I don’t care how he tastes.” Lesbian icon Chappell Roan, everyone.)

So, why isn’t “Guilty Pleasure” a staple at Roan’s concerts? Roan herself explained the omission in a TikTok live from last December. When a fan asked Roan for her favorite song on The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, she quickly replied, “‘Guilty Pleasure,’ but I don’t like playing it live. It’s literally, like, I feel so embarrassed whenever I sing it live.”

Roan is likely referring to the vocal strain of the song’s outro, which makes the song very difficult to perform on a regular basis. Fret not, though, “Guilty Pleasure” fans: she’s performed the song live before (and there’s plenty of videos to prove it). It’ll surely appear on her setlist again eventually — it’s just a matter of being at the right concert at the right time.

Meanwhile, though, the song is streaming on all platforms. And for those who crave the rush of a live version, check out this video of “Guilty Pleasure” at a concert in May of this year.
