Megan Thee Stallion is a bisexual icon — a bi-con, if you will. The rapper made it crystal clear on her most recent album Megan that she’s into both men and women: “I like girls and I like n*ggas, both of ’em gettin’ ate,” she rapped on the track “Broke His Heart.” It doesn’t get much more blatant than that.

And yet, a recent look of Megan’s had folks across the internet labeling her as a lesbian. On Instagram, Megan posted a video set to her collaboration with GloRilla, “HOW I LOOK,” while rocking a glittering grill and a silk scarf tucked into a baseball cap.

When the video made its way to X (formerly Twitter), it quickly went viral thanks to thirsty fans being rightfully obsessed with Megan’s outfit. One viral post took it as a statement of Megan’s sexuality: “this is a lesbian,” wrote an X user named Sloan. The post garnered more than 845,000 views.

But other users were quick to point out that Megan frequently references attraction to both men and women in her music. “Why do you want to erase bisexual women so bad???” asked one user. “This is not normal behavior. Can yall be normal about bisexual women FOR ONCE??”

Others also recalled times that Megan had been labeled straight due to her attraction to men. No matter the direction, the discourse around Megan’s sexuality is textbook bi erasure in action.
