This week, YouGov came out with a poll of young, LGBTQ+ Britons gauging the impact that representation of LGBTQ+ people has had on them. The poll revealed some impactful statistics: 88% of LGBTQ+ youth in Great Britain say that having some type of role model has helped to inspire them to be who they are. The most interesting thing revealed, however, are the total numbers of famous individuals who have helped youth embrace themselves.

The total list shows singers Lady Gaga, Troye Sivan, Chappell Roan, and Hayley Kiyoko, YouTubers Daniel Howell, Phil Lester, and Tyler Oakley, swimmer Tom Daley, and performers Elliot Page and RuPaul as topping the list, being the LGBTQ+ people who have served as the most inspiring individuals to LGBTQ+ young people.

And now, some of the members of this list are reacting online.

Daniel Howell, known for co-starring in a YouTube channel featuring himself and Phil Lester, addressed the list on X, writing, “damn seeing that we became the people that i needed so much when i was younger makes me feel like everything i went through was for a reason thank you.” His post was also retweeted by Lester.

Tyler Oakley, of similar YouTube fame for starring in his own channel, said, “okay this is craaaaaaazzzzzyyyyyy because i’m tyler oakley.”

The poll also showed the impact of knowing LGBTQ+ people, with 90% of young LGBTQ+ youth saying they know another LGBTQ+ person, and 88% saying that knowing people directly has helped them find themselves.
