There are so many strange artifacts from the glory days of print magazines constantly making the rounds online. From Elliott Gould’s “real sexy” cover shoot with Elmo to James Spader saucily crossing his legs to Bernadette Peters being leapt over by her costar during the promotion of an 80s musical, there’s just so much to contend with. We used to be a country, with magazines that had budgets for photoshoots without the barest hint of a concept aside from “make it look as silly possible to people on the Internet 30 years from now!”

Onesuch flyleaf is making the rounds today, and let’s just say it’s completely in keeping with this theme.

When drag queen and champion tweeter Beardra Bidness posted this hot shot of Trebek on Twitter, all bets were off.

Like so many great works of art, this copy asks a question, and then answers it…sort of? We still don’t exactly know the answer to “what is HOT?” but we do know something we didn’t know before. Alex Trebek in a jockstrap is a sight we didn’t know we needed to see. And now, we can’t unsee it.

The stalwart Jeopardy! host represented many things to a generation that grew up on game shows. But Trebek as sex symbol? It wasn’t always a foregone conclusion.

Suddenly we’re rethinking our entire childhoods…

Let’s also have a moment of appreciation for that tie. He’s wearing the sh*t out of it!

And just in case you were wondering “is this real?” the answer is yes. You can find the photo—sadly without much context—on message boards dating from 2018. AI couldn’t possibly complete with the glory of Trebek in this fit. This look is also entirely in keeping with a man who hosted one entire episode of Jeopardy! pantsless.

The man was always studly, in short.
