Margaret Qualley is well on her way to gay icon status. This year alone, the actress starred in instant queer classics like The Substance and Drive-Away Dolls. But is Qualley herself part of the alphabet mafia? After some recent pictures Qualley posted, sapphics across the internet aren’t sure.

On her Instagram story, Qualley showed off the more masc side of her fashion sense with two mirror selfies of her rocking a gray hoodie and a black baseball cap. The pics are pretty unassuming, but they were enough to send the gay internet into a frenzy. Before long, everyone was quoting Chappell Roan at Qualley and asking if she was … y’know … from Lisbon.

Sadly for any girls crushing on Qualley, she’s off the market. Qualley is married to acclaimed music producer Jack Antonoff, who she tied the knot with in 2023. And for anyone wondering if she’s bi, Qualley referred to herself as a “straight girl” in an interview with Philadelphia Gay News earlier this year while promoting Drive-Away Dolls

That doesn’t mean Qualley didn’t love the opportunity to play gay as her character Jamie. “For me, I am a straight girl in life so when I check out another woman, it’s usually a quick [makes noise] — you look up and down to see what the girl is wearing,” Qualley said. “It was fun to luxuriate in it. Jamie is such a hound dog at any moment in the bar. If she can creep around and catch a woman’s butt walking by, she will — which is a fun position to be in. Women don’t usually check out men that way, so to ogle is a fun thing to do. A lot of my character was figuring out ogling and enjoying ogling.”
