The Internet has rediscovered a clip of Kamala Harris from September 2019 that shows a conversation between her and a young high school student regarding gun violence.

This clip, which Harris initially shared on Facebook with the caption, “Leaders in Congress who fail to have the courage to act on gun violence are traumatizing an entire generation of students.”

The video went viral again on X recently. The footage shows a young girl thanking Harris for her work with high schools and for talking about her fear concerning rising gun violence.

Harris said in response: “So, here’s the thing: you’re right to feel that way but you also have to remember that we’re all in this together. You always have to remember that you’re not alone, do you hear me?”

The girl says in reply: “I just don’t want to die.”

Harris says, “No baby, you’re not going to die.”

She continued, “We’re going to take on the people who are failing to have courage. We’re going to do this.”

People are supporting Harris in the replies and also taking the opportunity to compare Harris’s empathetic approach with Trump’s lack of empathy surrounding human rights issues.

Even the phrase “we’re all in this together” could never apply to Trump’s campaign, which has taken pains to be as divisive and mean-spirited as possible.
