Shawn Mendes is shocking the world as his new album approaches. At several recent live shows, Mendes was recorded singing some unreleased songs, one of which addresses rumors speculating about his sexuality.
RelatedIt all started when a woman asked her husband to distract her from the pains of contractions by performing an interpretive dance.
The song, titled “The Mountain,” features the lyrics, “Some days/I have a change of heart/You can say what you need to say/You can say I’m too young/You can say I’m too old/You can say I like girls or boys, whatever fits your mold.”
Rumors about his sexuality have persisted throughout Mendes’s career, despite his only having ever publicly dated women.
He recently shared with audience in Woodstock, New York, that “The Mountain” is one of his favorites. Rumors about his sexuality, along with rumors that he was in a cult, got to him at one point in his life, he said, but thanks to the help of “exploring realms” and “a little bit of mushrooms,” he’s past it now.
Shawn is set to be released on November 15.
