Saturday Night Live has announced the first round of hosts for its landmark 50th season, and Chappell Roan stans are remaining completely calm over the lineup. The post-Halloween pre-election episode will feature the “Red Wine Supernova” singer making her SNL debut with host John Mulaney.

SNL made the announcement with a social media post on Wednesday, revealing the upcoming guest hosts for the first five shows of the 50th season. Coming in on November 2 is the Mulaney/Roan pairing. The October 19 show has Billie Eilish making her fourth musical guest appearance, and the week prior has Ariana Grande hosting for the second time.

The fans who manifested Roan’s SNL debut are reveling in their newfound power.

The SNL debut caps a watershed year for Roan, who skyrocketed to fame with her 2023 album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and her summer bop “Good Luck, Babe!” But it turns out the campaign to get her on SNL stage started before all that, with the call coming from inside the house.

Earlier this year, Roan sat down with SNL star Bowen Yang for Interview Magazine. During the conversation, Yang revealed that he’d been trying doggedly to get Roan booked on SNL. And like the dedicated fan that he is, he’d also skipped out from work to see her live.

“I didn’t buy tickets to the [Brooklyn] shows because I was like, ‘Fuck, I’m working at SNL,’” Yang recalled. “But I was texting the SNL bookers months before being like, ‘There’s this girl, Chappell Roan. I think she’d be incredible for the show.’

“And then, the night came and I played hooky for the first time, because they were like, ‘Do you want to come with us?’ The next night, my friends were like, ‘We’re going,’ and I was like, ‘Well, I’m going again.’ I saw you two nights in a row and I have no regrets.”

As usual, it pays to have gays on the inside. Tune in to watch Roan’s debut on the SNL stage on November 2.
