I Saw the TV Glow is one of the defining movies of 2024, and has made a huge impact on trans people in particular. But even if a trans film is groundbreaking, there are always accessibility issues to contend with. One of the only problems people have had with it is that, for a time, it’s only been available in theaters, keeping a large number of people from seeing it at home and outside of the US.

But director Jane Schoenbrun has been dropping announcements of the movie coming to streaming services, and fans have been celebrating.

First came the announcement from June (just in time for Pride!) that I Saw the TV Glow came to VOD.

Trans voice actress Julie Rae Goldstein said, “This year Pride will be held on the Psychic Plane! ☺️” along with showcasing a tattoo from A24 that ties into the TV universe from the film, The Pink Opaque.

For a minute, it seemed like the film wouldn’t be getting international streaming rights, so fans were extra thrilled to see the film show up on demand.

And then, just earlier today, Schoenbrun announced that the movie will be coming to Max on September 20.

“I SAW THE TV GLOW coming to Max September 20, just in time for spooky szn 🎃 📺 😎”

Fall is looking a lot pinker so far…

You can’t keep a great film down, and you certainly can’t keep it off streaming for long.
