In spite of JK Rowling’s transphobia, a recent Harry Potter video game features a shocking option for players—the ability to use gender neutral pronouns.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is centered around the in-universe game of Quidditch, a mixed-gender (pause for irony) contact sport. The game has an in-built character customizer with an option to give characters they/them pronouns.

This came as a shock to many players who fully expected the game to reflect Rowling’s personal transphobia. Of course, many have pointed out that playing any licensed Harry Potter games supports Rowling through royalty checks, even if these games are free to play.

Nevertheless, people found it hilarious that this bit of irony made it through.

“Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions features the option to use They/Them pronouns. Somewhere in a mouldy shack in Edinburgh, a lone scream rings out,” said one reviewer on X.

“That’s why she fell off Twitter. Hard to type when you’ve turned into an incandescent ball of rage.”

People were also dunking on the quality of the game.

“Meanwhile.. the game makes Suicide Squad look fun”

“I mean, I’m still not gonna play it”

One player didn’t even have to touch the game to win. So much for it being…a video game.

If we needed any more proof that the franchise is cursed, here it is.
