Drag & Dragons

Inside Max’s fabulously fierce “House of Drag” event

Drag and dragons were on full display at last night’s House of Drag event. Hosted by Max’s Human By Orientation, the was fabulous way to celebrate pride and the premiere of House of the Dragon. INTO received an invite via raven and showed up to check out the spectacle held in Brooklyn, New York’s massive nightclub and venue, Elsewhere.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood novel, HotD chronicles the Targaryen civil war that took place between King Viserys I Tagaryen’s children as they battle for the Iron Throne. Set 200 years before Game of Thrones, fans dive deeper into the story of the Targaryens with season two, but before that could happen, attendees celebrated pride and their favorite HotD Targaryen crew at the House of Drag event.

Fans of both Rhaenyra Targaryen’s (played by Emma D’Arcy) Team Black and Alicent Hightower’s (played by Olivia Cooke) Team Green showed up to partake in photo ops with chrome dragons, created jewelry to rep their favorite Targaryen crew, and snag some HotD embroidered hats with phrases like “Rightful Heir,” “Targaryen Bastard,” and “Dracarys.” Not to mention, attendees cooled down with “Targaritas” and Negroni Sbagliatos (with Prosecco in them) that went well with green fried cauliflower and pork sliders with black buns.

Before the dragons started flying on the screen, We’re Here‘s Priyanka took to the stage in a black and green ensemble to kick off the night. Canada’s Drag Race season one winner roused the crowd before drag artist Baby Love‘s drag revue Fagtasia performed a fabulously fierce retelling of the HotD season one. if anyone doubted the tension between Rhaenyra and Alicent, they didn’t after witnessing Baby Love (Rhaenyra) and fellow drag artist BeauJangless‘ (Alicent) chemistry.

Once Fagtasia finished recapping HotD season one, attendees were glued to the screen when HotD season two kicked off with the episode “A Son for a Son.” Once the episode finished, and we were done being gagged, the night turned into a party. With sounds by Byrell the Great, Kilopatrah Jones, Oscar Ñn, Maya, Fried Platano, and Joselo, House of Drag was the perfect way to celebrate pride and HotD.
