Charli xcx and Chappell Roan’s music have been dominating the summer. Now, fans think a collab between the two pop stars is on the horizon, thanks to clues both artists have dropped on social media.

On Thursday, Roan posted a selfie to Instagram story, showing her holding up a CD of Charli’s album BRAT. It immediately had fans wondering if Roan was simply a fan of the album like the rest of us, or if she was teasing something bigger.

Meanwhile, Charli was leaving more and more clues to suggest new songs are coming soon. In a recent interview, she confirmed that more BRAT remixes were on the way, and fans assumed a cryptic Instagram post from early July featuring a banner reading “BRAT SUMMER” meant that the BRAT universe would keep getting bigger throughout the summer.

Then came the Kamala Harris BRAT memes. Charli herself said that “kamala IS brat” in a viral post on X, and after Harris’ presidential campaign started using the BRAT aesthetic to appeal to Gen Z (introducing the album to folks far outside of its target demographic in the process), several media outlets reported that brat summer was officially over. But Charli quickly fact-checked them with a post on Instagram saying, “oh ? see u next week :)”

That post came just hours after a picture of Charli in a recording studio, which she captioned with a thank-you for BRAT getting shortlisted for the Mercury Prize. At the end of the post, she also teased new music coming very soon: “also i’m recording… something,” she wrote.

Combine that all with the fact that both Roan and Charli posted TikToks featuring a mash-up of their songs “Femininomenon” and “360,” and there are simply too many coincidences to ignore.

Fans are going feral at the potential of a collab that would no doubt go platinum in gay clubs across the world — but only time will tell if the rumors are true.
