Charli XCX and Billie Eilish fans experienced a collective meltdown yesterday when the two stars dropped the video for their new track together.

British pop sensation Charli recruited Eilish to guest on a remix of her Brat bonus track, “Guess”.

The track finds Charli, who coincidentally celebrates her 32nd birthday today, teasing someone who wants to hook up.

“You wanna guess the color of my underwear, you wanna know what I got going on down there … You wanna put ’em in your mouth, pull ’em all down south, you wanna turn this sh*t out, that’s what I’m talking about, pu-pu-put ’em in your mouth, pull ’em all down south.”

In the video, directed by Aidan Zamiri, a party breaks out around Charli. Everyone strips down to their lingerie.

Then Billie Eilish crashes through a wall riding a bulldozer. Her lyrical contribution will delight sapphic fans as she says she doesn’t need to guess Charli’s underwear.

“It’s the lacy black pair with the little bows. The ones I picked out for you in Tokyo,” before adding later, “Charlie likes boys but she knows I’d hit it.”

Undergarments donated to good cause

On Instagram, director Zamiri thanked both women for allowing him to shoot the video.

“You’ve both changed my life. I was already grateful to be a fan, thank u for letting me be part of culture.”

“Big insane music video, 10 thousand panties (give or take), 2 icons of modern music, 1 bulldozer,” Zamiri added, before revealing, “We shot this on Sunday btw!”

Should you be wondering what happened to that mountain of underwear after the shoot, be reassured it’s gone to good use.

It’s since been donated to I Support the Girls, an organization that, according to its website, “collects and distributes essential items, including bras, underwear, and menstrual hygiene products, allowing women and folx experiencing homelessness, impoverishment, or distress to stand tall with dignity.”

Online, fans are screaming over the iconic collaboration. It comes hot on the heels of Charli XCX’s hookup with Lorde on a “Girl So Confusing” remix.

“This right here is history being made,” was a comment with 10k likes under the Charli/Billie video on YouTube.

“Love that we’re experiencing the era of gay pop in mainstream music! Billie is eating (literally iykyk) and leaving no crumbs! It’s a BRAT summer,” was another well-liked comment.

‘Brat’ summer

Charli released her first album, True Romance, in 2013. However, Brat, which hit number 3 on the Billboard album chart, is shaping up to be her biggest release yet and has truly caught the cultural zeitgeist. Many fans have branded 2024 the year of the Brat summer, and the term has crossover into the mainstream (even President candidate Kamala Harris has co-opted it).

Brat came out on June 7. In a TikTok interview, Charli XCX explained her understanding of the word: “You are just that girl who is a little messy and maybe says dumb things sometimes, who feels herself but then also maybe has a breakdown but parties through it. It is honest, blunt and a little bit volatile. That’s Brat.”
