JoJo Siwa says she’s seriously considering participating in the Eurovision Song Contest.

The former Dance Moms alum, who hard-launched a new era in her pop career earlier this year, has revealed on TikTok that one of her songs has proved very popular… in Poland.

The song in question is “Yesterday’s Tomorrow’s Today”. It was released at the same time as her last lead track, “Guilty Pleasure” in July. In a TikTok video, Siwa told viewers she was heading to the European country, where the song has been “blowing up” in the last couple of weeks.

Coincidentally, Siwa, who is queer, says she has Polish ancestry.

She says that someone asked her if she would do it on Eurovision, and Siwa says she “initially jokingly replied in the comments saying ‘yes’. But now it’s actually become a real conversation and Eurovision’s into it. We’re talking with the people in Poland because each country essentially decides who goes to Eurovision to represent that country.”

Siwa says there remains a lot to talk about and arrange as she already has a big project she’s committed to when Eurovision takes place next spring. However, she’s hopeful she could make it work, if Poland wants her.

Siwa acknowledges other issues. For example, one of the rules for song entries is that they can’t be covers or tracks that have already been released or widely heard. Therefore, she would have to come up with a new song, but she says she’s already got something in mind.

Since posting that video a couple of days ago, when she was preparing to head to the airport to fly to Europe, Siwa has posted several TikTok videos from Poland. This includes one teasing that she’s had the “best meeting”.

The internet reacts

In the comments section, some people were skeptical of Siwa’s claims.

”Why do I not believe that it’s blowing up in Poland,” was a comment with over 33k likes.

Another said, “Me looking at the Polish Spotify charts but finding no sign of jojo siwa 😔”.

After news of her “great meeting”, one person quipped, “Polish ppl if you need help, blink twice.”

However, others said they’d love to see Siwa at Eurovision, including some Europe-based fans.

Eurovision’s vast reach

Eurovision is arguably the most-watched music show in the world. The final draws over 160 million viewers each year. Both Justin Timberlake and Madonna have performed at the final in recent years, but as special guests during the voting interval, not as contestants.

Next year’s contest will take place in Switzerland, following its win earlier this year with non-binary singer, Nemo.

The most famous celebrity participant was a young Celine Dion, who won the contest in 1988 for Switzerland with her song “Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi”. This was before Dion became an A-list superstar.

However, participating also carries risks. There’s the chance that Poland, which has never won the contest, might get knocked out in the semi-final stage. Or that an entry scores the dreaded “nul points” in the final.

That, of course, is if Poland even wants JoJo Siwa to represent it.
