A unique choir in New York has gone viral with a rendition of Chappell Roan’s biggest hit: “Good Luck, Babe”.

The ‘One Day Choir’ is organized by Gaia Music Collective. The initiative’s aim, according to its Eventbrite page, is to offer “an opportunity to sing in a choir for one day only.” It’s open to all: “No auditions. No commitment. No judgment or need for perfection.

“Just the joy of creating something bigger than ourselves with a room full of beautiful humans!”

The choir recently tackled Chappell Roan. Over 230 people showed up to take part.

The video has had over 4 million views in 24 hours and around three-quarters of a million likes.

One of those to comment was the song’s co-writer, Tranter Justin.

“As a co-writer of this song…thank you. I’m in tears,” Justin said, earning over 90k likes.

Others were similarly moved.

“Why am I crying?” said one person

“Why can’t this be the kind of human activity we engage in?! Instead we’re all mad all the time,” was another well-liked comment.

“I couldn’t be part of a choir cause I would just cry every time,” said another.

“I’m going to tell my kids this is church,” added someone else.

Another viewer commented, “I hope Chappell sees this and feels in her heart how deeply moving her music is and what it’s given to people ❤️”

Roan returns to stage after gig cancelations

Although she’s been making music for the last ten years, Roan has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame in 2024. The Missourri-raised singer has been candid about how the increase in attention has impacted her mental health.

Roan recently revealed to The Guardian that she had been diagnosed with severe depression. She also canceled two appearances last weekend at the All Things Go Music Festival in New York and Washington, DC. She issued a statement on Instagram saying she had to prioritize her mental health.

Roan returned to the stage on Tuesday night for her Midwest Princess Tour date in Franklin, Tennessee.

She told the audience, “I know how hard it is to be queer in the Midwest and South. And I understand.

“And so, I’m very grateful that I can be here and show up — and clock into my job. I just have to remind myself that this is why I do it. … I can see you and feel you […].”

If you’re moved by the One Day Choir and happen to be in the New York City area, Gaia Music Collective will tackle the song again this Saturday (October 5). Check the Eventbrite page for more details.
