A True Tribute

Victoria Monét and Teyana Taylor close out Pride month with a sapphic Usher tribute

Victoria Monét and Teyana Taylor’s chemistry is off the charts in this iconic tribute to Usher.

The BET Awards was a night to remember. Celebrating achievements in culture and art, this year’s award ceremony featured plenty talent, including Megan Thee Stallion, Ice Spice, Shaboozie, Tinashe, Doechii, Tyla, Tanner Adell, and hosting duties from Taraji P. Henson. While this year’s ceremony was truly star-studded, one entertainer received the highest accolade of the night, Usher.

The Grammy winner took home the BET Awards’ Lifetime Achievement Award and all-star tribute in his honor. Keke Palmer, Tinashe, Latto, and more took to the stage to honor the “Confessions” singer. However, when Victoria and Teyana came out to honor the icon, things took fabulously sapphic turn.

Victoria, dressed as Beyoncé, and Teyana, channeling Usher, came out to the stage to perform Usher’s 2004 hit “Bad Girl.” Teyana glided across the stage singing the lyrics, with Victoria moving in a way that would truly make Queen Bey proud. Don’t take our word for it, see it for yourself.

The performance invokes the “Bad Girl” set from Usher’s 2004 international “Truth Tour” to promote his number one album Confessions. During his hometown stop, Atlanta, Usher brought our Beyoncé to perform “Bad Girl” with him. Here’s the video for reference.

Now, 20 years later, Victoria and Teyana brought down the house with their sapphic version of “Bad Girl” and the internet agrees.
