Adam Rippon is currently busy reporting on the Olympics for NBC. He’s not actually in Paris, France, but is temporarily based near NBC headquarters in Connecticut.

Rippon, 34, was the first out-gay man to compete for the US at the Winter Olympics (he won a bronze medal in skating in 2018). Since retiring, he’s picked up work as a sportscaster. He’s also continued to build a social media following with his sweet and funny videos.

A new video of his went viral over the weekend. Rippon is known for being very particular about his uncluttered and tidy living environment. He’s also keen to always look well-dressed. In his new video, he gets dressed in a new suit. His joyous delight at discovering how stretchy the suit is has charmed the internet.

Watch below.

“I know that watching me get dressed is like watching an artist paint,” Rippon deadpans at one point. “How does he do it?”

Demonstrating the flexibility of the Uniqlo tan suit, he says, “This is the most comfortable thing I’ve ever worn.” He says he was inspired to buy it as he wanted to look like veteran NFL sportscaster Mike Tirico.

Followers loved the demonstration, although many questioned his choice of black socks with brown shoes and a blue tie (“Who raised you?”).

How to tie a tie

In other videos, Rippon has given a behind-the-scenes look at the NBC studios he’s working from. He’s been having to wake up around 4.15am to begin the Olympic coverage early, given that France is a few hours ahead timezone-wise.

Finally, in another video from over the weekend, Rippon live-learned how to tie a tie. One follower quipped, “The way Adam faces adversity and triumphs is just inspiring.”

At the time of writing, the US leads the medal board at the Paris Games, with 63 medals. The 2024 Olympics feature more out queer athletes than any other games (at least 151). So far, LGBTQ+ athletes have won 23 medals in Paris, according to Outsports.
