The producers of Dancing With The Stars yesterday announced the celebrity line-up for the forthcoming season. One person not included is former The View co-host Meghan McCain.

It turns out that McCain, 39, has been asked several times to take part in the show. However, the daughter of former Senator John McCain turned it down, along with other reality TV offers.

Speaking on her Citizen McCain podcast yesterday, the conservative said, “I’ve been asked to do Dancing With the Stars three times, and I said no each time, because I just don’t want to publicly humiliate myself. I’m a terrible dancer and I don’t do reality TV. The amount of reality TV I’ve been asked to do would blow your mind. I’m always like, what about my personality says I’d be good on these kind of platforms? I’m pretty shy in person. I’d be awful.”

She also suggested she saw it as a bar to her entering politics one day.

“I do not do reality TV, because there’s still a tiny little window in my life that I want to run for office at some point, and you can’t do both. You just can’t. It’s just not serious,” she said. “Come to me if I’m starving in the street and I’ve had some financial issues, but, I’m fine.”

McCain stating that she hopes to run for office, and wishing to avoid public humiliation, prompted a swift backlash online.

Ezra Sosa

Season 33 of Dancing With The Stars revealed its celebrity line-up yesterday. It will include women’s rugby player Ilona Maher, Olympic pommel horse athlete Stephen Nedoroscik, actors Tori Spelling and Eric Roberts, and Bachelorette star Jenn Tran, among others.

The show has also hired its first out, queer, Latin dance expert in the shape of Ezra Sosa.

Sosa, 23, posted a cute video of himself sharing the good news with his sister, mom, and good friend JoJo Siwa.

Sosa takes part as one of the pro dancers. He is paired with possibly the season’s most controversial contestant: so-called “fake heiress” Anna “Delvey” Sorokin of Inventing Anna fame.
