Heartstopper’s cast is chock-full of iconic couples, from protagonists Nick and Charlie (played by Kit Connor and Joe Locke) to token straight couple Tao and Elle (Will Gao and Yasmin Finney). But one of the show’s couples seems to have hopped off the screen and into real life, thanks to a music video that has Heartstopper fans doing double takes.

On Heartstopper, Tara and Darcy (played by Corinna Brown and Kizzy Edgell) are the show’s leading lesbian couple — and they’re absolutely adorable. In the series’ new season, the two are as in love as ever while Darcy explores their gender identity (and gets a fabulous new haircut) and Tara deals with academic pressures.

Enter a celebrity duo that isn’t Tara and Darcy: pop star Rachel Chinouriri and Oscar-nominated actor Florence Pugh. Pugh appeared in Chinouriri’s music video for the song “Never Need Me” off her 2024 album What A Devastating Turn of Events (which is pop perfection, FYI — give it a listen if you haven’t already).

Pugh’s hairstyle in the video is strikingly similar to Edgell’s new look in Season 3 of Heartstopper, leading folks across social media to draw comparisons between the two twosomes.

Chinouriri herself chimed in on the comparisons on social media, saying, “Will take it!”

She also posted a follow-up to the lookalike accusations. “Me and Florence keep getting called the old versions of Darcy and Tara in Heartstopper and tbh I hear it completely and I guess that means ‘Never Need Me’ needs to be in the next season!” Chinouriri wrote. In a reply, she made one slight edit: “Would like to correct this for ‘OLDER’ coz I know damn well we ain’t old.”

Brown, the actor who plays Tara, also responded to Chinouriri’s post. “I fully support and second this notion,” she wrote. “tbh your voice needs to be in everything.”

Chinouriri already had a song featured in Heartstopper, with her single “I’m Not Perfect (But I’m Trying)” appearing in the second episode of Season 3, “Home.” If the show gets renewed for Season 4, hopefully she’s a shoo-in for the soundtrack.

Season 3 of Heartstopper is now streaming on Netflix. Check out the trailer below.
