A trailer has dropped for Wayne Brady’s new Freeform reality show, Wayne Brady: The Family Remix.

Brady, 52, came out as pansexual last year. The new show explores his decision to come out, and the support he receives from those closest to him. This includes his daughter, Maile, his ex-wife and business partner Mandie Taketa, and her new partner, Jason Michael Fordham. The latter used to be a dancer for Brady during one of his Las Vegas shows.

“I’ll freely admit it, it’s weird,” says Brady of his unconventional home life.

Elsewhere in the trailer, his daughter criticizes her dad for not living “100 percent authentically”. Brady also suggests living in the closet was exhausting, and that he “doesn’t want to be depressed anymore.”

“Holding myself accountable”

Deadline reports that yesterday, Brady discussed the show at a panel event as part of Disney’s Television Critics’ Association gathering.

“You could show the world who whoever you want on Instagram or Tiktok…the reality show, it was my weird way of holding myself accountable and making me do [be honest],” he said. “So when I came out, or when we share various things that you will see in the series, I can always just hold my phone on TikTok and be like anybody else. ‘Hey, y’all. Great day. I’m chilling in Malibu.’ And you turn off the camera and start crying. Versus, when the cameras were on, they were really catching what was happening and we couldn’t stop it.”

Brady came out last August via an interview with People and an iconic TikTok video.

@waynebrady As someone who gets to bring joy to others daily on tv, it's been ironic that I don't experience it as much as I'd like. I advocate mental health for all and a part of that is self transparency. In doing my work, I've come to see a few truths, one of them being that I want to be free to love whomever I want. This truth makes me Pan and part of the lgbtq+ family. It's scary as hell to say out loud but here it is. The people I admire the most are the ones brave enough to be themselves unapologetically. This shouldn't shake anyone's world, but if it bothers you at all, that's your business:) I was so afraid of having my manhood questioned, but screw that. A "real man" in my eyes, isn't afraid to be honest and happy. From now on, I'll be over here living my best life! I love you @Mandietaketa @Maile Masako @Jason ♬ original sound – Shannon
