Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris was a long time coming. Given the pop superstar’s support for Joe Biden in 2020 (and JD Vance’s infamous comment on “childless cat ladies,” which Swift proudly identifies with), it was only a matter of time before she came out with a message endorsing the Harris-Walz campaign.

Now, Harris herself has sounded off on Swift’s endorsement — with one small caveat where the two disagree.

While answering “the web’s most searched questions” in a new video for WIRED, Harris peeled off a sticker to reveal that “Kamala Harris Taylor Swift” is a frequent search including her name.

“I’m very proud to have the support of Taylor Swift. She’s an incredible artist,” Harris said. “I really respect the courage that she has had in her career to stand up for what she believes is right.”

That’s when Harris revealed the catch: “But we were on different sides of the Super Bowl last year. I am a 49ers fan,” she said — with Swift, of course, being on the side of the Kansas City Chiefs (thanks to her boyfriend Travis Kelce), who won over the San Francisco 49ers at the end of this year’s NFL season. “But who’s mad at anyone for being loyal to their team, right?” Harris added with a chuckle.

If rooting for different football teams is the extent of their disagreement, it sounds like Harris and Swift are a match made in heaven for this election, and Swifties across the internet were happy to see it.

The fact that Harris did an autocomplete interview in the first place was also exciting for voters. “Is this what it’s like to have a presidential candidate that’s not 80?” asked one user. Maybe getting Harris on Hot Ones isn’t so far-fetched after all.
