JD Vance just can’t get it right when it comes to Kamala.

On the campaign trail, his stage seemed to be one big advertisement for the Harris campaign — likely not what Vance was going for. Meanwhile, his email blasts attempting to drag Harris instead revealed Vance’s unexpected niche interest.

Apparently, Vance is an expert in all things jewelry. At least, that’s what he wants the world to believe, if a rant critiquing Harris’ jewelry choices is anything to go by.

In an email with the subject “This pic of Kamala pisses me off” — Vance is a class-act, as always — the vice presidential candidate came for Harris’ necklace choice in a fundraising ad.

“Please forgive my language, but look at the price on the bottom right: $62,000,” Vance wrote under a screenshot from the Tiffany & Co website, showing a necklace similar to the one Harris is wearing in the ad.

“This is the epitome of what the ‘elites’ in DC have been doing to families like yours and mine for decades,” Vance continued — before asking for a donation of his own. “I can assure you of this, your donation won’t go towards a $62,000 necklace.”

When Vance’s email started making the rounds, the internet was quick to poke holes in his rhetoric.

First, there’s the image Vance seems to want to project: a jewelry expert with refined tastes who can clock a Tiffany necklace at 500 meters. It doesn’t quite match the homegrown, rural aesthetic he’s been peddling up till now. It also isn’t a typical interest for a traditional macho man. Of course, breaking down gendered stereotypes is always a good thing — but for Vance to take that side too would be a major shocker.

Second, there’s no proof that Harris’ necklace is even Tiffany in the first place. As several folks were quick to point out, the design has a number of popular knock-offs. There’s no reason Harris wouldn’t have bought one of those instead of the real deal given the sky-high price point.

Finally, there’s the hypocrisy of it all. Vance wants America to think of Harris as a gluttonously rich out-of-touch elite, but Vance himself has a net worth of between $4 million and $10 million, per the Wall Street Journal. And lest we forget his running mate is Donald Trump, a man synonymous with excessive wealth. Let’s be real: most politicians are richer on average than their constituents, so painting Harris as especially wealthy just isn’t going to hit home.
