US Representative Becca Balint (D-VT), has posted a cute video to social media. In it, the 56-year-old Democrat and her office interns dance to Chappell Roan’s slow-burner hit, “H-O-T-T-O-G-O”. We’re gonna guess that one of her intern’s may have come up with the idea.

Balint captioned the video, “H-O-T-T-O-G-O, I’m always sad to see my interns go.

“Grateful to my interns for all of their hard work this summer!”

Balint took office in 2023. Before this, she held office in the Vermont Senate. She is married to attorney and opera singer Elizabeth R. Wohl. The women are parents to two children, Abe, 15, and Sarah, 12.

Unlike other first-term congressmembers who make a splash on social media, such as California’s Robert Garcia, Balit is not known for being a meme queen. Her social media postings tend to be a little more policy-based and dry, which is why this one comes as something of a lighthearted surprise.

Kamala Harris joins TikTok

How officials use social media will no doubt play a part in the upcoming election, particularly the battle to win over Gen Z and millennials.

In a separate but similar development, Kamala Harris joined TikTok yesterday. Expect predictable MAGA outrage that she’s joined the Chinese-owned brand that some US officials have raised concerns over regarding data sharing.

Check out her first TikTok below.

Right-wingers are also throwing a hissy fit that Harris dropped by the RuPaul’s Drag Race workroom to film a video to encourage people to vote. The video, that will air during the Drag Race All-Stars season 9 finale this Friday, was apparently filmed well in advance of President Biden’s announcement about quitting the Presidential race.

Republicans, of course, are also seeking to engage via social media. However, a new charisma-free video from JD Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate, has earned mockery online.
