Weddings — especially straight weddings — can be a slog as a guest. But one plus-one happened to encounter the gay scandal of a gossiper’s dreams, and he told the full story to a rapt audience on TikTok.

The TikToker, Nick (aka Rants from the Shower), had us enthralled from his opening line of his tea-filled storytime. “I watched as the groom called his soon-to-be wife by the wrong name at a wedding I was invited to be a plus-one at,” he began. “And the name and identity of this person — who was in attendance at the wedding — was so shocking and such a revelation that the wedding did not end up happening.”

Nick explained that as a plus-one, he didn’t know the couple personally, but learned they were high school sweethearts who’d been together for eight years. On paper, it sounds like a match made in heaven.

“Everything’s going beautifully, until they start sharing their vows,” Nick said. The bride, he continued, was named Danielle — but the groom seemed to have a Freudian slip in the heat of the moment.

“Instead of saying Danielle, he says Blake. And this ‘Blake’ got a gasp,” Nick recalled. “The name Blake clearly pierced the hearts of a lot of people in attendance.”

After a shocked moment of silence, “the bride just loses it,” he said. “Going off on him like, ‘How dare you? I can’t believe I went through with this!’”

That’s when the story really gets good — by which we mean, of course, that it gets gay.

“That is when one of the people on the stage runs off, and it’s not the bride or the groom. It’s one of the groomsmen. Blake is one of the groomsmen — who runs off of that wedding venue stage quicker than I’ve ever seen anybody run,” Nick said. “He might have beat Usain Bolt in a race, he ran that fast.”

So what exactly was going on? Apparently, Blake and the groom were childhood best friends who’ve been close their whole lives.

“I don’t really know too much of the details, because I just know things that people have told me, but I do know that there was no reception. There was no dancing. There was no fun that night,” Nick recalled. “I know that Blake ran off, the wedding didn’t go through — and the groom went and checked on Blake.”

That last detail especially set off the folks in Nick’s comments section, who immediately assumed the groom’s slip-up was a sign of something more.

“The groom checked ON BLAKE???” one commenter asked.

“Which could mean nothing,” quipped another, referencing the infamous (b)romance between Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

Others were reminded of a certain seminal gay film: “Blake and the Groom be taking trips into the mountains,” commented one Brokeback Mountain fan.

“Not Blake was watching his man get married 😩😩😩,” lamented another.

Naturally, everyone was hungry for an update, and Nick was quick to deliver. Thankfully, Danielle seems to have gotten a happy ending regardless of her wedding going to pieces: “The bride-to-be, Danielle, she is now in a relationship and they’ve been together and things look to be going great.”

But what about Blake and the groom? “The intel that I have gathered from people is that they are not together,” Nick shared. “They do live together — but they’re roommates. But they’re not together.”

Again, the comments section was convinced their living situation was more than just platonic.

“‘And they were roommates!’” one commenter wrote.

“Very Bert & Ernie of them,” observed another.

“They’re not ready,” deemed a third. “But that closet has glass doors.”

Nick hasn’t shared anything else about the wedding fallout — but should the groom and Blake actually ever come forward as a couple, they’ve got an army of TikTok watchers ready to support their every move.
