Sabrina Carpenter stole the show at the VMAs with an out-of-this-world medley of hits. With an ensemble of dancing astronauts, she sang the three singles from her smash hit album Short ‘n Sweet: “Espresso,” “Please, Please, Please,” and “Taste.” That last number also introduced a character who took over the internet: a blue alien in a revealing mesh dress.

The alien took on Jenna Ortega’s role from the music video, dancing with a (space)man then making out with Carpenter herself. Since the VMAs took place just a day after the president debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, it was no surprise that the internet swiftly linked the extraterrestrial performance with the debate’s most viral line: “Now she wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens in prison.”

Trump mentions a trans alien, and a gorgeous alien appears on stage the next night? It felt too perfect to be true, and Carpenter’s alien girlfriend quickly became synonymous with Trump’s anti-woke mad libs.

But who was the human under the alien makeup? After being tagged in an Instagram post by Carpenter, her identity has been revealed.

The alien is professional dancer Brooke Fong, who shared her own slideshow on Instagram in honor of the performance. “@vmas w @sabrinacarpenter was out of this world 👽🩵” she wrote, along with a series of pictures of her alien self.

But Fong is equally gorgeous under all the makeup, a fact the internet was quick to point out.

Though Fong herself isn’t trans, the legacy of the transgender alien she brought to life will live on forever. Check out Carpenter’s full VMAs performance below.
