Lots of thought goes into making a house a home. From the color scheme to the aesthetic to the layout, there’s no shortage of angles to consider — and as one TikToker just learned, sexuality plays a part, too.

Influencer Sod Akhtar took to TikTok to address a strange theory from his fans.

“People have been DMing me saying, ‘Oh, I love that my favorite creator is bisexual,’” he said in the video. “I haven’t made any videos on my sexuality. It’s just that I got a green couch.”

“I just love the color green! I didn’t know that couch colors signify sexuality,” he continued. “To prove it, my bedsheets over there are also green! I just really like the color green.”

But Akhtar’s couch isn’t only green: it’s green and velvet, a combination that his followers said didn’t help his argument. “It’s not just green, it’s velvet green,” one commenter wrote.

“Green. … AND velvet? Come on now,” chided another.

And of course, there’s the elephant in the room: Akhtar never said that he isn’t bisexual, just that it’s not the reason for his taste in decor. “I didn’t hear a no,” one commenter pointed out.

Meanwhile, bisexual folks in the comments section were confirming that green velvet couches and bisexuality really do go hand in hand.

“As a bisexual I too have a velvet green couch and green sheets, so welcome to the community,” one commenter wrote.

“Me a bi, sitting on my green couch feeling very called out,” commented another.

“I also really just like the color green (I am indeed bisexual),” confirmed a third.

Other folks were happy to celebrate Akhtar’s first baby steps into queer culture: “Your first green couch! This is such a big moment in your bisexual trajectory!” one commenter wrote.

One fan came to Akhtar’s defense: “Sometimes you don’t know until after you buy the couch,” they wrote.

The whole situation could be a modern day version of the chicken and the egg: “Are people bisexual because they love green or do green lovers just happen to be bisexual most of the time?” one commenter mused.

Akhtar returned to TikTok to plead his case once again in a follow-up video. “I found something to make it even better to prove to you guys that couch color doesn’t define sexuality,” he said, before swapping the couch’s cushions for blue ones (still in velvet, of course).

The switch didn’t convince his commenters, though:  “I mean… DIY-ing ur way through life is VERY bi,” one pointed out.

“One could say… the best of both worlds,” commented another. Maybe there are simply too many bi stereotypes to ever escape them all — but if that means everyone’s bi in one way or another, we wouldn’t be complaining.
