Right-wing podcaster and co-founder of the Daily Wire, Ben Shapiro, was a guest on Jubilee’s Surrounded debate show yesterday.

In each episode, someone is placed in the middle of a circle of 26 individuals who hold opposing views. The circle members take turns to debate the guest on a specific point. If members of the circle feel that the individual is losing their argument, citing bad evidence, repeating themselves or not listening to the other side, they can hold up a red flag. If more than half hold up their red flags, the individual has to take their place back in the circle.

Shapiro, a supporter of Donald Trump and a crusader against all that is considered “woke”, was placed in a circle of Kamala Harris supporters.

One person, Shane, took the chair to take Shapiro to task over his views on abortion and trans rights.

He starts by asking Shapiro “Can men get pregnant?”

“Men cannot get pregnant,” Shapiro replies.

Shane asks Shapiro if men can experience sexual assault (“Yes,” replies Shapiro), and if he’s benefitted from white supremacy. Shapiro is confused by the question and asks for more context.

At this point, Shane reveals he’s a trans man who is directly impacted by abortion rights. He says he has a vagina, leading Shapiro to claim he has no interest in Shane’s genitalia. Shane argues that Shapiro, through his frequent anti-trans rhetoric, clearly does have an interest in people’s genitalia.

Shane then proceeds to lambast Shapiro on how his harmful words impact trans people, barely allowing the Daily Wire host to get a word in. Shane pushes the point that he is not allowed to enjoy the same freedoms, as a man, that Shapiro does.

When Shapiro tries to argue he’s being bamboozled, Shane says he’s merely using the same tactics as Shapiro to hammer home his viewpoints.

Marty Trump

Shane, who hosts a trans parency podcast, is chucked out of the chair after around 4 and a half minutes. He refuses to shake Shapiro’s hand as he leaves.

Mary Trump was among those who praised Shane’s performance.

“Watching Shapiro’s talking points get demolished to his face? Couldn’t have asked for a better ending to my day,” she said in a tweet re-sharing the clip.

Alejandra Caraballo and others were similarly impressed.

Ben Shapiro’s anti-queer history

Shapiro has previously said “homosexual activity is a sin” and that “A man and a woman do a better job of raising a child than two men or two women.”

He has compared being trans to a mental illness, saying, “It is a psychological disorder … that’s not an insult to people who suffer from psychological disorders…you are not doing a service to people who are suffering from a mental disorder to humor them by suggesting that their mental disorder is reflected in objective reality.”

On another occasion, he described Elliot Page’s coming-out announcement as “awkward,” “creepy,” “disgusting” and “pathetic”.
